國際保險業務(OIU)

為政府以租稅優惠與法令鬆綁等誘因，開放保險業者以創新保險商品，提供境外人士來台購買外幣保險商品之平台。銷售對象為境外人士，業務範圍包含可辦理外幣收付的保險業務、再保業務、主管機關核准的保險相關業務。

國際保險業務分公司(OIU)也是繼國際金融業務分行(OBU)、國際證券業務分公司(OSU)之後，成為推動台灣成為亞太理財中心的一部分，吸引境外人士來台理財，達到一站購足的金融服務。

How could I cancel my policy? Do I have to apply in Taiwan in person?

A request for cancellation of policy couldbe made by mail.may be processed by postal mail. It is not necessary for you tocome in person.

Required documents：

◎A foreign natural person：

1. Application for Termination of InsuranceAgreement (for OIU only)

2. Two valid identification documents withphotos of the proposer

3. Copy of passbook

◎A foreign juristic person：

Notes：

The surrender value for policy cancellationwill be sent to the personal account of the designated proposer at a local orforeign bank. We will bear the expenses incurred from the remittance while theclient shall bear the expenses incurred by the services of the receiving bank.

Notes：

A policy loan will be drawn to the designated proposer by remittance to the personal account of the designated proposer at a local or foreign bank. We will bear the expenses incurred from the remittance while the client shall bear the expenses incurred from the service of the receiving bank.

What about any claims? Do I have to come to Taiwan in person for the insurance claims?

What kind of certificates will I receive when the insurance has been approved by Taiwan Life?

Taiwan Life will send the insurance policy to you according to your instruction, for example, hand delivered by the insurance agent or send via international postal mail to the address of the applicant.

How do I pay the premium? Do I need to open an account in Taiwan?

Taiwan Life now offers two payment methods. You can either pay through remittance, or “autopay by financial institutions”.

You are welcomed to contact Taiwan Life’s sales representatives, brokers or agents for related services.

Are expatriate workers/labors allowed to purchase OIU products?

Expatriate workers are required to acquire an Alien Resident Certificate before they start working in Taiwan. They are therefore not qualified as “a natural person outside of the territory of the R.O.C.” required by the OIU.

For R.O.C. citizens holding dual nationalities, are they entitled to purchase OIU products?

(1) An individual shall be entitled to purchase the OIU products as long as he/she meets the qualification requirements for a "natural person outside the territory of the R.O.C.".

(2) A natural person outside the territory of the R.O.C. means a natural person holding a passport issued by a foreign country and having no domicile in the R.O.C.

(A person “having no domicile in the R.O.C.” means a person who does not have a household registration in the Taiwan area and has not yet obtained the Alien Resident Certificate from the R.O.C. government)
